This guide explains how to find and apply for a Village House apartment in Japan. Compare the room, total monthly payment and written move-in estimate before deciding. Approval and availability are not guaranteed.
Find a suitable apartment
Search by area, map or station, then compare the rent, room layout and travel distance. Check the floor, elevator, parking and optional equipment for the specific building and room.
Vacancy information changes. If a property is fully occupied, ask about the vacancy notification service. It is not a room reservation or a guarantee of a future tenancy.

Ask about vacancies and arrange a viewing
Contact Village House about the room you want and arrange a viewing. Check sunlight, ventilation, stairs, room measurements, power outlets and the mobile signal on site.
The official website offers multiple language options. Ask which languages are available for your inquiry and documents; do not assume every location or appointment has the same support.
Apply and complete screening
After viewing, submit an application and the requested documents. The official FAQ lists identification, proof of income and other documents; additional items may be requested during screening.
Village House decides applications through its own screening. A low rent, nationality, or a previous rejection by another landlord does not establish whether an application will be approved.
A viewing or inquiry is not a rental contract. Confirm the screening result, contract terms and room preparation before fixing your move-in date.
Check the written move-in estimate
The advertised no-deposit arrangement has exceptions depending on the contract and screening. Initial costs can include prorated rent, the following month’s rent and fire insurance. Ask for a written breakdown, including any parking or equipment charges.
Moving support and free-rent offers are subject to eligibility and may exclude some properties. Verify the current offer for your room; old comparison charts or moving-company coupons do not establish the amount you will pay.
Before signing, check early cancellation penalties, cleaning charges and other move-out costs as well as monthly rent.

Complete the contract and prepare for moving
After approval, complete the lease, payment and bank registration requirements and confirm when you can receive the keys. A room under repair may not be available immediately.
Arrange electricity, gas, water and internet for the confirmed move-in date. Ask for the service details for that building, and allow time for any visit or installation.
